Message of Regeneration, rebirth and new birth
3:1 There was a man of ha Perushim (פְּרוּשִׁים) , named Nakdimon, a katzin (leader) of the Yehudim:
3:2 This man came to Yeshua (יֵשׁוּע) by night, and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from Elohim (אלהים) as a teacher: for no man can do these signs that You do unless Elohim (אלהים) is with him.
3:3 וַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אָמֵן אָמֵן אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָךְ אִם־לֹא יִוָּלֵד אִישׁ מִלְמַעְלָה לֹא־יוּכַל לִרְאוֹת אֶת־מַלְכוּת הָאֱלֹהִים׃
Vaya'an Yeshua vayomer elav amen amen ani omer lach im-lo yivvaled ish milma'lah lo-yuchal lir'ot et-malchut ha'Elohim.
Yeshua (יֵשׁוּע) answered him, “Amen, amen I say to you, unless one is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of Elohim.”
3:4 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו נַקְדִּימוֹן אֵיךְ יִוָּלֵד אָדָם וְהוּא זָקֵן הֲיוּכַל לָשׁוּב אֶל־בֶּטֶן אִמּוֹ וְיִוָּלֵד׃
Vayomer elav Nakdimon eich yivvaled adam vehu zaken hayuchal lashuv el-beten immo veyivvaled.
Nakdimon (נַקְדִּימוֹן) said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and
3:5 וַיַּעַן יֵשׁוּעַ אָמֵן אָמֵן אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָךְ אִם־לֹא יִוָּלֵד אִישׁ מִן־הַמַּיִם וְהָרוּחַ לֹא־יוּכַל לָבוֹא אֶל־מַלְכוּת הָאֱלֹהִים׃
Vaya'an Yeshua amen amen ani omer lach im-lo yivvaled ish min-hamayim veharuach lo-yuchal lavo el-malchut ha'Elohim.
Yeshua (יֵשׁוּע) answered, “Amen, amen I say to you, unless one is born of water
and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of Elohim.
3:6 הַנּוֹלָד מִן־הַבָּשָׂר בָּשָׂר הוּא וְהַנּוֹלָד מִן־הָרוּחַ רוּחַ הוּא׃
Hanolad min-habasar basar hu vehanolad min-haruach ruach hu.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Ruach is Spirit.
3:7 אַל־תִּתְמַהּ עַל־אָמְרי לָךְ כִּי עֲלֵיכֶם לְהִוָּלֵד מִלְמָעְלָה׃
Al-titmah al-'amer lach ki aleichem lehivaled milma'elah.
Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born anew.
3:8 הָרוּחַ בַּאֲשֶׁר יַחְפֹּץ שָׁם הוּא נשֵׁב וְאַתָּה תִּשְׁמַע אֶת־קוֹלוֹ וְלֹא תֵדַע מֵאַיִן בָּא וְאָנָה הוּא הוֹלֵךְ כֵּן כָּל־הַנּוֹלָד מִן־הָרוּחַ׃
Haruach ba'asher yachpotz sham hu noshev ve'attah tishma et-kolo velo teda me'ayin ba ve'anah hu holech ken kol-hanolad min-haruach.
"The wind blows where it wills, and you hear its sound, but you do not know from where it comes and where it goes. So is everyone who has been born of the Spirit."
3:9 Nakdimon (נַקְדִּימוֹן) answered and said to Him, How can these things be?
3:10 Yeshua (יֵשׁוּע) answered and said to him,
"Are you the teacher of Yisrael, and do not know these things?
3:11 אָמֵן אָמֵן אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָךְ כִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־יָדַעְנוּ נְדַבֵּר וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר־רָאִינוּ נָעִיד וְאַתֶּם לֹא תְקַבְּלוּ עֵדוּתֵנוּ׃
Amen amen ani omer lach ki et asher-yada'nu nedabber ve'et asher-ra'inu na'id ve'attem lo tekabbelu edutenu.
Amen, Amen, I say to you:
We speak about what We know and testify about what We have seen. Yet you all do not receive Our testimony!
3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things?
3:13 וְאִישׁ לֹא־עָלָה הַשָּׁמַיְמָה בִּלְתִּי אִם־אֲשֶׁר יָרַד מִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם בֶּן־הָאָדָם אֲשֶׁר הוּא בַּשָּׁמָיִם׃
Ve'ish lo-'alah hashamaymah bilti im-'asher yarad min-hashamayim BEN-ha'ADAM asher hu bashamayim.
No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
3:14 וְכַאֲשֶׁר הִגְבִּיהַּ משֶׁה אֶת־הַנָּחָשׁ בַּמִּדְבָּר כֵּן צָרִיךְ בֶּן־הָאָדָם לְהִנָּשֵׂא׃
Vecha'asher higbiah Mosheh et-hanachash bamidbar ken tzarich BEN-ha'ADAM lehinase.
And as Mosheh lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
3:15 That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
3:16 כִּי־אַהֲבָה רַבָּה אָהַב הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָעוֹלָם עַד־אֲשֶׁר נָתַן אֶת־בְּנוֹ אֶת־יְחִידוֹ לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יֹאבַד כָּל־הַמַּאֲמִין בּוֹ כִּי אִם־יִחְיֶה חַיֵּי עוֹלָם׃
Ki-'ahavah rabbah ahav ha'Elohim et-ha'olam ad-'asher natan et-beno et-yechido lema'an asher lo-yovad kol-hama'amin bo ki im-yichyeh chayei olam.
For Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
3:17 כִּי הָאֱלֹהִים לֹא־שָׁלַח אֶת־בְּנוֹ בָּעוֹלָם לָדִין אֶת־הָעוֹלָם כִּי אִם־לְמַעַן יִוָּשַׁע בּוֹ הָעוֹלָם׃
Ki ha'Elohim lo-shalach et-Beno ba'olam ladin et-ha'olam ki im-lema'an yivvasha bo ha'olam.
For Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) did not send His Son into the world so that He might condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
3:18 הַמַּאֲמִין בּוֹ לֹא יִדּוֹן וַאֲשֶׁר לֹא־יַאֲמִין בּוֹ כְּבָר נָדוֹן כִּי לֹא־הֶאֱמִין בְּשֵׁם בֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים הַיָּחִיד׃
Hama'amin bo lo yiddon va'asher lo-ya'amin bo kevar nadon ki lo-he'emin beshem Ben-ha'Elohim hayachid.
"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of Elohim.
3:19 וְזֶה הוּא הַדִּין כִּי הָאוֹר בָּא אֶל־הָעוֹלָם וּבְנֵי הָאָדָם אָהֲבוּ הַחשֶׁךְ יוֹתֵר מִן־הָאוֹר כִּי רָעִים מַעֲשֵׁיהֶם׃
Vezeh hu haddin ki ha'or ba el-ha'olam uvenei ha'adam ahavu hachoshech yoter min-ha'or ki ra'im ma'asheihem
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the light, because their works were evil.
3:20 For everyone that does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works be exposed.
3:21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in Elohim (אֱלֹהִים).
3:22 After these things came Yeshua (יֵשׁוּע) and his Talmidim into the eretz Yehudah; and there he tarried with them, and immersed.
3:23 And Yochanan also was immersing in Einayim near to Shalem, because there was much water there: and they came, and were immersed.
3:24 For Yochanan was not yet cast into prison.
3:25 Then there arose a question between [some] of Yochanan's Talmidim and the Yehudim about the subject of tohorah (purification).
3:26 And they came to Yochanan and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you on the other side the Yarden, to whom you have testified--behold, this Man is immersing, and all men are coming to Him!
3:27 Yochanan answered and said:
A man can receive only what is given them from Shamayim.
3:28 You yourselves bear witness that I said, 'I am not the Mashiach,' but, 'I have been sent before Him.'
3:29 "He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the voice of the bridegroom. Therefore my joy has been fulfilled.
3:30 He must increase, but I [must] decrease.
3:31 He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from Shamayim is above all.
3:32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.
3:33 He that has received His Testimony has set to His seal that Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) is Emet .
3:34 For he whom Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) has sent speaks the Devarim Elohim (אֱלֹהִים): for Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) gives not the Ruach by measure [to him].
3:35 Ha AVI loves the SON, and has given all things into His hand.
3:36 כָּל־הַמַּאֲמִין בַּבֵּן יֶשׁ־לוֹ חַיֵּי עוֹלָם וַאֲשֶׁר לֹא יַאֲמִין בַּבֵּן לֹא יִרְאֶה חַיִּים כִּי אִם־חֲרוֹן אַף אֱלֹהִים יִשְׁכֹּן עָלָיו׃
Kol-hama'amin baBen yesh-lo chayei olam va'asher lo ya'amin baBen lo yir'eh chayim ki im-charon af Elohim yishkon alav.
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim abides on him."
Jewish perspective of understanding Rebirth, Born again (נולד מחדש) or born anew rather complex, as they uses it as a metaphor to describe the change of a person"s status from former to new status.
The following are the reason for describe as rebirth or born again of various stages of changes in status
Born again - born from above; Mashiach's kingdom can only be entered by those by faith whose lives have been changed Teshuvah and trusting in the. salvation through Master Yeshua HaMashiach alone. he receives a new nature, and is made fit for the kingdom of HaShem הי in vs 3:5 “Born of water” thus clarifies for Nakdimon that spiritual status change “born from above” means conversion, not a second physical birth.
