UleNaomi moida leishah ish gibor khayil mimishpakhat Elimelekh ushemo Boaz

And Naomi had a Go'el of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelekh; and his name [was] Bo'az .

Vatomer Rut haMoaviyah el-Naomi elkha-na hasadeh vaalakotah vashibolim akhar asher emtza-khen beeinav vatomer lah lekhi viti:

And Rut (רות) ha Moaviyah (מואביּה) said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean (lakat) ears of corn after [him] in whose sight I shall find favour (chen חן). And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

Vatelekh vatavo vatelaket basadeh akharei hakotzrim vayiker mikreh hakhelkat hasadeh leBoaz asher mimishpakhat Elimelekh

And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Bo'az, who [was] of the kindred of Elimelekh.

Vehineh-Boaz ba miBeit Lekhem vayomer lakotzrim YEHOVAH imakhem vayomru lo yevarekha YEHOVAH

And, behold, Bo'az came from Beit Lechem, and said unto the reapers, YHWH (יהוה) [be] with you. And they answered him, YHWH (יהוה) bless thee.

Vayomer Boaz lenaaro hanitzav al-hakotzrim lemi hanaarah hazot:

Then said Bo'az unto his eved that was set over the reapers, Whose na'arah (young girl) [is] this?

Vayaan hanaar hanitzav al-hakotzrim vayomar naarah Moaviyah hi hashavah im-Naomi misdeh Moav:

And the eved that was set over the reapers answered and said, It [is] ha Moaviyah (מואביּה) na'arah (young girl) that came back with Noami out of the country of Moav:

Vatomer alakotah-na veasafti vaomarim akharei hakotzrim vatavo vataamod meaz haboker vead-atah zeh shivtah habayit meat:

And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the omarim (sheaves): so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

Vayomer Boaz el-Rut halo shamaat biti al-telkhi lilkot besadeh akher vegam lo taavuri mizeh vekho tidbakin im-naarotai:

Then said Bo'az unto Rut, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

Einayikh basadeh asher-yiktzorun vehalakhte akhareihen halo tziviti et-hanearim levilti nagekh vetzamit vehalakhte el-hakelim veshatit measher yishavun hanearim:

[Let] thine eyes [be] on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the kelim (vessels), and drink of [that] which the young men have drawn.

Vatipol al-paneiha vatishtakhu artzah vatomer elav madua matzati khen beeineikha lehakireni veanokhi nakhriya:

Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found favour (chen חן) in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing

I [am] a nokhriyah (foreigner, alien stranger)?

Vayaan Boaz vayomer lah huged hugad li kol asher-asit et-khamotekh akharei moti ashekh vataazvi avikh veimekh veeretz moladtekh vatelkhi el-am asher lo-yadaat temol shilshom:

And Bo'az answered and said unto her:

It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy chamot (mother-in-law) since the death of thine iysh (husband): and [how] thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

Yeshalem YEHOVAH paolekh utehi maskurtekh shelemah meim YEHOVAH Elohei Yisrael asher-bat lakhasot takhat-kenafav:

YHWH recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of YHWH Elohim Yisrael, under whose Kanaph (wings) thou art come to trust.

Vatomer emtza-khen beeineikha adoni ki nikhamtani vekhi dibarta al-lev shifkhatekha veanokhi lo ehyeh keakhat shifkhoteikha:

Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my adon; for that thou hast nachamah (comforted) me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

Vayomer lah voaz leet haokhel goshi halom veakhalte min-halekhem vetavalte pitekh bakhometz vateshev mitzad hakotzrim vayitzbat-lah kali vatokhal vatisba vatotar:

And Bo'az said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy pierce of bread in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched [corn], and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

Vatakam lelaket vayetzav Boaz et-nearav lemor gam bein haomarim telaket velo takhli muha:

And when she was risen up to glean, Bo'az commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the omarim (sheaves), and reproach her not:

Vegam shol-tasholu lah min-hatzevatim vaazavtem velikta velo tigaru-va:

And let fall also [some] of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave [them], that she may glean [them], and rebuke her not.

Vatelaket basadeh ad-haarev vatakhbot et asher-liketah vayehi keeifah seorim:

So she gleaned (talakat) in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

Vatisa vatavo hair vatere khamotah et asher-likehta vatotze vatiten-lah et asher-hotirah misavah:

And she took [it] up, and went into the city: and her chamot (mother-in-law) saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

Vatomer lah khamotah eifoh likat tehayom veanah asit yehi makirekh barukh vataged lakhamotah et asher-astah imo vatomer shem haish asher asiti imo hayom Boaz

And her chamot (mother-in-law) said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her chamot with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day [is] Bo'az.

Vatomer Naomi lekhalata barukh hu la YEHOVAH asher lo-azav khasdo et-hakhayim veet-hametim vatomer laNaomi karov lanu haish migoale nuhu:

And Noami said unto her nachalah, Blessed [be] he of YHWH (יהוה), who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Noami said unto her, The man [is] near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

Vatomer Rut haMoaviyah gam ki-amar elai im-hanearim asher-li tidbakin ad im-kilu et kol-hakatzir asher-li:

And Rut ha Moaviyah (מואביּה) said: He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my ketzir (harvest; קציר).

Vatomer Naomi el-Rut kalatah tov biti kitetzi im-naarotav velo yifgeu-vakh besadeh akher:

And Naomi said unto Rut her nachalah, [It is] good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

Vatidbak benaarot Boaz lelaket ad-kelot ketzir-haseorim uketzir hakhitim vateshev et-khamota:

So she kept fast by the maidens of Bo'az to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
