Yehoshua (יהושע) washes His Talmidim's feet
13:1 Now before the Chag Pesach, when Yehoshua (יהושע) knew that His hour was come that he should depart out of this world to Ha AVI, having loved his own which were in Olam Hazeh, He loved them to the end.
13:2 And dinner being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Yehudah Kerioth, Shimon's son, to betray Him;
13:3 Yehoshua (יהושע) knowing that Ha AVI had given all things into His hands, and that he was come from Elohim (אלהים), and went to Elohim (אלהים);
13:4 He rises from dinner, and laid aside His garments; and took a towel, and girded His loins.
13:5 After that he pours mayim into a bowl, and began to wash the talmidim' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
13:6 Then He came to Shimon Kefa: and Kefa said to Him, "Adon, are You washing my feet?
13:7 Yehoshua (יהושע) answered and said to him,
""What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."
13:8 Kefa said to Him: "You shall never wash My feet!" Yehoshua (יהושע) answered him, "If I do not wash you , you have no part with Me."
13:9 Shimon Kefa said to Him: "Adonay, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!"
13:10 Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:
"He who is is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean but not all of you."
13:11 For he knew who should betray Him; therefore said He, You are not all clean.
13:12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said to them, Know you what I have done to you?
13:13 You call Me Master and Adon: and you say well; for so I am.
13:14 If I then, your Adon and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet.
13:15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
13:16 Truly, Truly, I say to you,
The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
13:17 If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.
13:18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats Lechem with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.
13:19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, you may believe that ANI HU.
13:20 Truly, Truly, I say to you,
He that receives whomsoever I send receives me; and he that receives Me receives him that sent Me.
Yehoshua foretels His Betrayal
(Matt 26:20-25; Mark 14:17-21; Luke 22:21-23)
13:21 When Yehoshua (יהושע) had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said,
Truly, Truly, I say to you,
that one of you shall betray Me.
13:22 Then the talmidim looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.
13:23 Now there was leaning on Yehoshua (יהושע) ' bosom one of His Talmidim, whom Yehoshua (יהושע) loved.
13:24 Shimon Kefa therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spoke.
13:25 He then lying on Yehoshua (יהושע) ' breast said to him, Adonay, who is it?
13:26 Yehoshua (יהושע) answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a [maror into the charoset] morsel, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the [maror into the charoset] morsel, he gave it to Yehudah Kerioth, the son of Shimon.
13:27 And after the [maror into the charoset] morsel hasatan entered into him. Then said Yehoshua (יהושע) to him, What you are bent on doing, do quickly.
13:28 But no one reclining at tish knew for what intent He said this to him.
13:29 For some of them thought, because Yehudah had the bag, that Yehoshua (יהושע) had said to him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
13:30 He then having received the morsel went immediately out: and it was night.
13:31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Yehoshua (יהושע) said, Now is the BEN ha ADAM glorified, and Elohim (אלהים) is glorified in Him.
13:32 If Elohim (אלהים) be glorified in him, Elohim (אלהים) shall also glorify Him in himself, and shall straightway glorify Him.
13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me: and as I said to the Yehudim, Whither I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.
13:34 A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
13:35 By this shall all men know that you are My talmidim, if you have love one to another.
Kefa's Denial Predicted
(Matt 26:31-35; Mark 14:27-31 Luke 22:31-34)
13:36 Shimon Kefa said to Him:
Adonay, where are You going?
Yehoshua (יהושע) answered him:
Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterwards."
13:37 Kefa said to Him, "Adonay, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.
Yehoshua (יהושע) answered him,
Will you lay down your life for My sake?
Truly, Truly, I say to you,
The rooster shall not crow, till you have denied Me three times.
