BEN ELOHIM'S PASSION AND DEATH (Chaps. 18, 19)
A. Yehudah Betrays the Master (18:1-11)
18:1 When Yeshua (ישוע) had spoken these words, he went forth with His Talmidim over the brook that is Kidron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and His Talmidim.
18:2 And Yehudah also, which betrayed Him, knew the place: for Yeshua (ישוע) often met there with His Talmidim.
18:3 Yehudah then, having received a band [of men] and officers from the Rashei Kohenim and Prushim, comes thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
18:4 Yeshua (ישוע) therefore, knowing all things coming upon Him, went out and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"
18:5 They answered him, Yeshua (ישוע) of Natzeret. Yeshua (ישוע) said to them, ANI HU. And Yehudah also, which betrayed Him, stood with them.
18:6 As soon then as he had said to them, ANI HU, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
18:7 Then asked He them again, Whom are you seeking? And they said, Yeshua (ישוע) of Natzeret.
18:8 Yeshua (ישוע) answered, I have told you that ANI HU: if therefore you seek Me, let these go their way:
18:9 so that the word might be fulfilled which He said, "Those whom You have given Me I have lost none."
18:10Then Shimon Kefa ( שִׁׁמְּעוֹן כֵּיפָּא) having a sword drew it, and smote the Kohen Gadol's eved, and cut off his right ear. The name of the eved name was Malchus.
18:11 Then said Yeshua (ישוע) to Kefa, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which My AVI has given me, shall I not drink it?
18:12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Yehudim took Yeshua (ישוע), and bound him,
18:13 And led him away to Chanan (חָּנָּן) first; for he was avi in Torah to Kayafas, which was the Kohen Gadol that same year.
18:14 Now Kayafas was he, which gave counsel to the Yehudim, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
18:15And Shimon Kefa followed Yeshua (ישוע), and [so did] another the taught one: that the taught one was known to the Kohen Gadol, and went in with Yeshua (ישוע) into the palace of the Kohen Gadol.
18:16 But Kefa stood at the door without. Then went out that other the taught one, which was known to the Kohen Gadol, and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Kefa.
18:17 Then said the servant girl who kept the door said to Kefa, "You are not also one of this Man's Talmidim are you?" He said "I am not"
18:18 And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Kefa stood with them, and warmed himself.
18:19 The Kohen Gadol then asked Yeshua (ישוע) of His Talmidim, and of His teaching.
18:20 Yeshua (ישוע) answered him,
"I spoke openly to Olam Hazeh; I always taught in Beit haKnesset, and in Beit haMikdash, where the Yehudim always come together; and in secret have I said nothing.
18:21 Why do you question Me? Question those who have heard Me, what I spoke to them. Indeed they know what I said."
18:22 And when He had said these things, one of the attendants who stood by slapped Yeshua (ישוע) with the palm of his hand, saying, "Is this how You answer the Kohen Gadol?"
18:23 Yeshua (ישוע) answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?"
18:24 Now Annas had sent him bound to Kayafas the Kohen Gadol.
18:25 Now Shimon Kefa ( שִׁׁמְּעוֹן כֵּיפָּא) was standing and warming himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of His Talmidim, are you?" Then he denied it and said, "I am not!"
18:26 One of the avadim of the Kohen Gadol, being [his] kinsman whose ear Kefa cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him?
18:27 Kefa then denied again: and immediately the rooster crew.
18:28 Then led they Yeshua (ישוע) from Kayafas to the Praitorion (hall of judgment): and it was early; and they themselves went not into the Praitorion, lest they should be tema'im (unclean); but that they might eat the Pesach.
18:29 Pilatos then went out to them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man?
18:30 They answered and said to him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up to you.
18:31 Then said Pilatos to them, Take you him, and judge him according to your Torah. The Yehudim therefore said to him, It is not permitted for us to put any man to death:
18:32 That the saying of Yeshua (ישוע) might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.
18:33 Then Pilatos entered the Praetorium again, and called Yeshua (ישוע), and said to Him, "Are You haMelekh Yehudim?"
18:34 Yeshua (ישוע) answered him, "For yourself do you say this, or did others tell you about Me?"
18:35 Pilatos answered, "Am I a Yehudi? Your own nation and the Rashei Kohenim have delivered You to me. What have You done?"
18:36 Yeshua (ישוע) answered,
"My Malkut is not of this world. If My Malkut were of this Olam Hazeh, My servants would fight, so that I might not be delivered to the Yehudim; but now My Malkut is not from here."
18:37 Pilatos therefore said to Him, "Are You a Melekh then?" Yeshua (ישוע) answered, "You say rightly that I am a Melekh. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the Olam Hazeh, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."
18:38 Pilatos said to him, What is Truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Yehudim, and said to them, I find in him no fault [at all].
18:39 But you have a custom, that I should release to you one at the Pesach: will you therefore that I release to you the Melekh of the Yehudim?
18:40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Bar-Abba(בַּר אַבָּּא). Now Bar-Abba was a robber.
The scripture calls the Valley "Valley of Yehoshafat - Emek Yehoshafat" (Hebrew: עמק יהושפט), meaning "The valley where YAH will judge."
