5:1 (A:vi) This [is] the Sefer Toldot (generations) of Adam. In the day that Elohim (אלהים) created man, in the demut (likeness) Elohim (אלהים) made He him;

5:2 Zakar (male) and Nekevah (female) created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his own likeness, after his tzelem (image); and called his name Shet (שׁת):

5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Shet (שׁת) were eight hundred years: and he begat banim and banot:

5:5 Ve yihyu kol yamin (And all the days) that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and ya mot (he died).

5:6 And Shet (שׁת) lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enosh:

5:7 And Shet (שׁת) lived after he begat Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begat banim and banot:

5:8 And all the days of Shet (שׁת) were nine hundred and twelve years: and ya mot (he died).

5:9 And Enosh lived ninety years, and begat Kenan (קינן):

5:10 And Enosh lived after he begat Kenan (קינן) eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat banim and banot:

5:11 And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years: and ya mot (he died).

5:12 And Kenan (קינן) lived seventy years, and begat Mahalal'el:

5:13 And Kenan (קינן) lived after he begat Mahalal'el eight hundred and forty years, and begat banim and banot:

5:14 And all the days of Kenan (קינן) were nine hundred and ten years: and ya mot (he died).

5:15 And Mahalal'el lived sixty and five years, and begat Yered:

5:16 And Mahalal'el lived after he begat Yered eight hundred and thirty years, and begat banim and banot:

5:17 And all the days of Mahalal'el were eight hundred ninety and five years: and ya mot (he died).

5:18 And Yered lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

5:19 And Yered lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat banim and banot:

5:20 And all the days of Yered were nine hundred sixty and two years: and ya mot (he died).

5:21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Metushelach:

5:22 And Enoch walked with Elohim (אלהים) after he begat Metushelach three hundred years, and begat banim and banot:

5:23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

5:24 And Enoch halachah with Elohim (אלהים): and he [was] not; for Elohim (אלהים) took him.

5:25 (A:vii) And Metushelach lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lemech:

5:26 And Metushelach lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat banim and banot:

5:27 And all the days of Metushelach were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and ya mot (he died).

5:28 And Lemech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

5:29 And he called his name Noach, saying, This [same] shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which YHWH (יְהוָֹה) has cursed.

5:30 And Lemech lived after he begat Noach five hundred ninety and five years, and begat banim and banot:

5:31 And all the days of Lemech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and ya mot (he died).

5:32 And Noach was five hundred years old: and Noach begat Shem (שׁם), Ham (חם), and Yefet (יפת).

Putting all the names together it says, "Man is appointed mortal sorrow. Blessed One will come down teaching that His death will send the hidden King rest (or despairing comfort)." The whole redemption message was given in the naming of their children in the first ten generations! They truly believed that the Redeemer (ADONAI in the flesh) would come in Noach's time!
