Instructions on dealing with Idolatrous nations

7:1 (vii) When ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha shall bring you into haeretz whither you goest to yaresh (possess) it, and has cast out many goyim (nations) before you, the Chiti, and the Girgashti, and the Emori, and the Kenaanites, and the Perizzi, and the Chivi, and the Yevusi, seven goyim (nations) greater and mightier than thou;

7:2 And when ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha shall deliver them before you; you shall smite them, [and] utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them:

7:3 Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son, nor his daughter shall you take to your son.

7:4 For they will turn away your son from following Me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of ADONAI (יהוה) be kindled against you, and destroy you suddenly.

7:5 But thus shall you deal with them; you shall destroy their altars, and break down their matzeivot (pillars), and cut down their asherah (groves), and burn their pesel (graven image) with fire.

7:6 For you [are] Am Kodesh to ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha: ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha has chosen you to be Am Segulah (Treasured People) to himself, above all people that [are] upon ha panim adamah.

7:7 ADONAI (יהוה) did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you [were] the fewes of all people:

7:8 But because ADONAI (יהוה) loved you, and because He would shomer the oath which He had sworn to your avot, has ADONAI (יהוה) brought you out with a yad chazaka (mighty hand), and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Paroh melekh Mitzrayim.

7:9 (Maftir)

Know therefore that ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha, He [is] Elohim (אלהים), the faithful Elohim (אלהים), which Shomer Brit and mercy with them that love Him and Shomer His mitzvot to a thousand generations;

7:10 And repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

7:11 You shall therefore shomer the mitzvot, and the chukim, and the mishpatim, which I tzavah you this day, to do them.

Vehayah ekev tishmeun et hamishpatim haeleh ushemartem vaasitem otam veshamar ADONAI Eloheicha lecha et-haBerit veet-hachesed asher nishba laavoteicha:

And it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments and shall guard, and do them, that ADONAI Eloheicha shall keep with you the Covenant and the mercy which HE swore to your fathers:

7:13 And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.

7:14 You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock.

7:15 And ADONAI (יהוה) will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Mitzrayim which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.

7:16 Also you shall destroy all the peoples whom ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha delivers over to you; your eye shall have no pity on them; nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

7:17 If you should say in l'vavcha, "These goyim (nations) are greater than I; how can I dipossess them?

The Assurance of HaShem’s Protection Against Our Enemies

7:18 you shall not be afraid of them: but you shall remember well what ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha did to Paroh, and to all Mitzrayim;

7:19 Massah ha Gadol (the great temptations) which your eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the yad chazaka (mighty hand), and the stretched out arm, by which ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha brought you out: So shall ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.

7:20 Moreover ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from you, be destroyed.

7:21 You shall not be terrified of them: For ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha is among you, a El Gadol v'Norah (a mighty El and terrible).

7:22 And ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha will clear away these goyim (nations) before you by little and little: you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you.

7:23 But ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha shall deliver them over to you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.

7:24 And He shall deliver their kings into your hand, and you will wipe out their name from under heaven; none of them will be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them.

7:25 You shall burn the pesel (graven image) of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to ADONAI (יהוה) Eloheicha.

7:26 Neither shall you bring a detestable thing (toevah, abomination) into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: [but] you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it [is] a cursed thing.
